Is there anything better? Not when it comes to exercise. I absolutely love walking along the lake for my daily workout. There is just something so peaceful. I always cut through a small lake community that reminds me of my grandmas home town in West Virginia. I don’t quite know what it is but it makes me smile every time. I love to walk down by the marina and see all the fishermen. Sometimes i stop and chat and sometimes i just say hello. The scenery is always breathtaking and everyone is so friendly.
The boys set off early this morning to go walleye fishing. The river was still rolling like the ocean and it was cluttered with trees. At one point under the bridge, the river became somewhat of a whirlpool. But never fear, the boys made it through and fished for hours on Lake Erie!
My mom and i stayed back at the house. I wasn’t feeling 100% and a day of relaxation sounded wonderful. My mom spent the morning baking cookies for my nieces birthday. Abby spent the day laying around and watching tv!
After i ate some toast i went for a walk to the beach. I brought my camera and attempted to find the boys on the water. I was unsuccessful but i did capture some beautiful photos.
At this point in the morning i was starting to feel more human. I walked back to the house and decided to go for a morning walk. It was exactly what i needed. It was also getting really hot out but the scenery was so beautiful that i just wanted to keep walking. I passed several other women walking down lake road. I passed several bicyclist who looked like they were training for the Olympics. Seriously they always look so graceful riding at such a fast speed! I walked through some small lake communities and surprisingly they were pretty quiet. The marina parking lot was full of trucks and trailers, but the marina itself was pretty quiet also. I did see a family of Amish sitting outside by a fire enjoying some lunch together. We exchanged hellos and i was on my way back to the house.
This week was rough. The constant rain and humidity also made it rough. But we survived. The rain has stopped. The humidity has dropped. Ahhhh deep breaths!
Last night John and i walked around downtown Huron and along the pier. In town they had a band which lots of people were gathered. Bikes lined the lake front and a crowd of lawn chairs filled the area. The air smelled of boardwalk food.
The pier was busy with locals and tourists. The bars were busy and they too had live music. The pier was covered in debris from all the rain. The river leading out to the lake was like a wave pool. People were still walking with their family and pets. Some brave souls even rode their bikes and scooters around all the sticks.
We enjoyed the peacefulness of the sunset and people watching. Cedar point was so easy to see in the night sky.
Sometimes it’s nice to just take a walk, breath fresh air, and remember all we are blessed with!
