A day at the lake restores the soul!

The boys set off early this morning to go walleye fishing. The river was still rolling like the ocean and it was cluttered with trees. At one point under the bridge, the river became somewhat of a whirlpool. But never fear, the boys made it through and fished for hours on Lake Erie!

My mom and i stayed back at the house. I wasn’t feeling 100% and a day of relaxation sounded wonderful. My mom spent the morning baking cookies for my nieces birthday. Abby spent the day laying around and watching tv!

After i ate some toast i went for a walk to the beach. I brought my camera and attempted to find the boys on the water. I was unsuccessful but i did capture some beautiful photos.

At this point in the morning i was starting to feel more human. I walked back to the house and decided to go for a morning walk. It was exactly what i needed. It was also getting really hot out but the scenery was so beautiful that i just wanted to keep walking. I passed several other women walking down lake road. I passed several bicyclist who looked like they were training for the Olympics. Seriously they always look so graceful riding at such a fast speed! I walked through some small lake communities and surprisingly they were pretty quiet. The marina parking lot was full of trucks and trailers, but the marina itself was pretty quiet also. I did see a family of Amish sitting outside by a fire enjoying some lunch together. We exchanged hellos and i was on my way back to the house.

Perfect weekend for boating!

The temps in northeast ohio this weekend we in the high 80’s. Super blessed my family has a boat for us all to enjoy. Some of us ventured out just to enjoy the lake and others of us went fishing. Lake Erie is so beautiful and i am so grateful to live where i do. Winter months can seem so long, but its so worth it went summer finally arrives. I look forward to a summer on the water!

family is everything
Look at these cuties enjoying lunch on the lake while we pass by on the boat!

Beautiful Memorial Day!

Finally the weather was perfect and what a wonderful day for that to land on. This was the second year in a row that Berea, Ohio didn’t have their parade and it’s kind of sad. The Memorial Day parade always let me know that summer was officially here.

John and i spent the day on the water. We fished a little and checked out the Walleye Festival in Port Clinton, Ohio. We basically just wanted to walk around and people watch. It was pretty quiet with a few carnival rides and junk food. We did however enjoy the beautiful lake view and the mix of people gathered there.

Overall it was a pretty relaxing day, which is always welcomed!

Lake Erie was angry

Friday night we had gale forced winds out of the north and Lake Erie was rough. It caused major damage to boat docks, roadways, homes, etc. Anything on the lake front was being tossed around and flooded with large waves. It was like a northeast Ohio hurricane.

Yesterday we went to my parents house in Vermilion, Ohio to check out the damage. My parents live up a hill from the lake, so they were spared any major damage. Lots of power lines down. A huge, 150 year old tree fell in the park and somehow missed EVERY house. Now if you know anything about lake homes in a park, then you know they are all very close together. It truly is a miracle this tree did not cause catastrophic damage to multiple homes!!!

The tree in the park
the road to our dock
Wires hanging low or across the roads. Ohio Edison turned off the power
they started the clean up but need help removing this large trunk
The water receded and the road to the dock is back open!

Finally the winds calmed down and the mother Erie was happy again!
