Today was gorgeous. It was 50° and sunny. Not your typical weather for the end of December in Cleveland Ohio. We of course decided we needed to spend the day outside. After our morning workout we headed to Huron. The public boat launch looked like a summer afternoon! We fished on the pier with our friend, Gene. I was super excited to use my brand new wagon that john got me for Christmas! My dad was doing important year end stuff for work, but during his break they brought Abby for a walk and joined us!!! I was able to take photos while the boys tended to the rods in the lake. I also made lots of four legged friends. We ended up with 2 perch just over 11” each. While John was bleeding out the fish, he also bled himself out 🙄. Thank goodness he married a nanny whose mother is a nurse. We cleaned with some water, put a bandaid on it and then wrapped it with a clean sock! He was good as new, at least enough to get us home. Overall excellent day spent with friends and family.
Nothing is better then a local ice cream shop. Nothing! John has been going to the Pied Piper in Huron since he was little and he still enjoys going there all the time. I love it because they have sugar free yogurt! It’s a nice little treat for me every once in a while! Love being part of this Great Lake town!
We started the day with a boat ride down the Huron river. Lake Erie was really rough but the weather was amazing. We decided to go have lunch and shop in Port Clinton and Marblehead. After we were finished we returned to the boat. The lake was still kind of rough. John would have fished but it made me nervous so we returned to the dock. He of course still fished from the parked boat 😂 and of course caught a fish! Overall it was an amazing day!!!!
There is nothing better then small lake towns. Well ok there might be some better things, but to me this is my happiness. I love having Lake Erie right in my backyard. I love the calmness and uniqueness of these small towns that line the coast. In the summer the streets are lined with tourist and locals enjoying restaurants, bars, festivals and of course the lake. In the winter it is quiet and peaceful. Small town America is my happiness. I am and always be just a small town girl and i finally met my small town guy! Today we enjoyed Huron, Ohio from the water!
This week was rough. The constant rain and humidity also made it rough. But we survived. The rain has stopped. The humidity has dropped. Ahhhh deep breaths!
Last night John and i walked around downtown Huron and along the pier. In town they had a band which lots of people were gathered. Bikes lined the lake front and a crowd of lawn chairs filled the area. The air smelled of boardwalk food.
The pier was busy with locals and tourists. The bars were busy and they too had live music. The pier was covered in debris from all the rain. The river leading out to the lake was like a wave pool. People were still walking with their family and pets. Some brave souls even rode their bikes and scooters around all the sticks.
We enjoyed the peacefulness of the sunset and people watching. Cedar point was so easy to see in the night sky.
Sometimes it’s nice to just take a walk, breath fresh air, and remember all we are blessed with!
Today my husband, father and i set out to catch some walleye. Mission completed! I w caught 8 and kept 4! The weather was absolutely perfect. I could sit on the water all day. It’s so peaceful and stress free.
Today i also brought my cameras and captured some photos on our ride out. The Huron river is so beautiful and surrounded by cute bars and restaurants. We saw all kinds of water craft vessels from kayaks to large yachts. It’s a good mix of local people and vacationers.
The temps in northeast ohio this weekend we in the high 80’s. Super blessed my family has a boat for us all to enjoy. Some of us ventured out just to enjoy the lake and others of us went fishing. Lake Erie is so beautiful and i am so grateful to live where i do. Winter months can seem so long, but its so worth it went summer finally arrives. I look forward to a summer on the water!
So amazing to see these beauties flying over Lake Erie in Huron, Ohio. They were gorgeous and so graceful as they changed formations. They flew in a large circle several times. I didn’t have my tripod with me but i got the best shots i could. Shout out to my mom who spotted them just as we were packing up to leave!
The American white pelican’s breed in interior North American, moving south and to the coasts, as far as Central America and South America, in the winters!
